  • Isaki and his partner Haru owns a fish farm in Pulau Betong with a farm manager, Haris
    and 30 full time employees that helps with the daily activities of feeding, caring and
    harvesting of the fishes at the farm.
    The farm manager’s normally starts his week by setting a goal such as sales target,
    amount of stocks to be delivered to the local vendor and restaurants. After that, he will
    meet with all 30 employees to brief them about the working timetable and share the
    weekly goals. If there are any conflicts that arises, Haris will solve it immediately. After
    that, he will walk around the farm to inspect and ensure the operations are running as
    scheduled.
    The farm operates on a strict regulations where the soil, temperature, water of the ponds
    are tested regularly and fishes are fed on time with supplements to ensure its growth to
    be of high quality.
    The employees at the farm are paid basic wages only leading to some dissatisfaction.
    As Isaki and Haru plans to expand their business in 2022 to cover Kuala Lumpur, Johor
    and Sarawak. They both agree that it is important to have a proper planning before any
    investments is made.
    a) Explain the FOUR (4) functions of management that Haris performs. After that,
    identify the importance of planning and controlling for the fish farm.
  • Time spent serving a customer at a cafe is normally distributed, with ? = 7 minutes
    and ? = 1.8 minutes.
    (a) If you select a random sample of duration serving twenty five (25)
    customers, determine the probability that the sample mean is between 6.8
    and 7.2 minutes.
  • A service counter manager wishes to ensure that an average of 16 seconds to
    serve a customer. In order to analyse the efficiency of the service process, he takes
    a random sample of 56 customers. The mean service time of the sample is 15.8
    seconds. Assume that the population standard deviation is 0.8 seconds.
    (a) State the null and the alternative hypotheses for the test.
